We are seeking a Structural Design Engineer with a solid background in composites to support the design and perform analysis for variable angle composite structures based on the RTS manufacturing process. The analyst will be responsible for the design and structural analysis of ultra-high performance composite structures for a variety of industries, interacting with customers, understanding their requirements and providing optimized solutions.
In additional to providing variable-angle composite solutions, the structural analyst will also work towards the development of a commercial software offering for structural optimization with RTS. This could include the development of a plugin for established structural analysis software suites (e.g. Abaqus).

Key duties and responsibilities
- Apply engineering expertise and knowledge of structural mechanics to provide exceptional technical support to customers and partners, ensuring high-quality, timely customer service that results in improved customer satisfaction and productivity
- Take ownership of customer challenges, proactively engage with customers to provide comprehensive structural mechanics solutions
- Participate in internal company initiatives to share knowledge and to create best practices
- Develop and execute iCOMAT’s analysis software roadmap
Education requirements, skills and experience
- Must have a strong understanding and experience of advanced materials modelling and designing with variable orientation composites
- Demonstrable understanding of structural dynamics problems and their modelling techniques
- MSc or PhD in relevant discipline
- Demonstrable use of relevant commercial CAD and CAE software packages, Abaqus preferred
- Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to conduct presentations to customers and a wide range of audiences. Fluent in writing and speaking English
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects which are complex in nature
- Experience in one or more scientific scripting languages e.g. Python, Matlab
- Demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and translate these into an execution plan that delivers value and meets business goals
- Cooperate with a cross-functional team of engineers in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
