Do you have landscaping or custodial experience, and wonder what it would be like to have a State Park as your workspace? A pleasant getaway awaits you in southern Oregon's Rogue Valley. Valley of the Rogue Park has both a day-use picnic area and an overnight campground along three miles of shoreline on the Rogue River. An easy, self-guided interpretive walking trail provides a relaxing 1.25 mile stroll along the river's edge and it intersects with the Rogue River Greenway Trail which is 4 miles long throughout the park.

What is a Seasonal Park Ranger?
We recruit for Seasonal Park Ranger positions each year. These positions generally work during our busiest time of year, April through September, when visitors flock to enjoy our beautiful parks. However, each park is unique and the duration of seasonal positions varies slightly from park to park.

What you will do:
Perform, conduct and oversee a variety of tasks in order to protect, maintain, operate and repair state park lands, natural and cultural resources, structures, facilities, equipment and systems by using skills in building trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and landscape maintenance, as well as specialized program skills (e.g.: resource interpretation, cultural and natural resource restoration, utility infrastructure operation, park rule enforcement, etc.) related to the maintenance and operations of OPRD programs, properties within the Rogue Management Unit.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).
OR
- An Associate's degree or higher in Park and Recreation Administration or Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies or a related field; AND Six (6) months of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).
Special Requirements:
- To be hired, you must have a criminal records and driving records check that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment.
- You must have a valid driver’s license at the time of hire and throughout employment

- Skill and knowledge of basic park resource and facility operations and maintenance and/or resource interpretation.
- Skill in the safe use of tools, material and equipment associated with landscape, building, facility and utility system maintenance.
- Skill in the use of a personal computer.
- Skill in evaluating situations, applying rules and guidelines, determining and carrying out appropriate course of action to achieve desired results.
- Skill in resolving customer complaints related to overnight camping and park rule interpretation.
- Skill in developing and delivering presentations and products within established resource interpretation programs.
- Skill in practices relating to conservation, preservation and restoration, rehabilitation of archaeological, cultural or historic sites or structures.

- The salary listed is at the non-PERS rate. Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) eligible employees will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay the 6% employee contribution to PERS.
